Receiver in the Ear (RITE)

This device is the very latest in digital hearing aid technology. Designed to be a 2 piece system, the hearing aid is worn behind or on top of the ear with a thin wire connecting to a tiny receiver in the ear canal. The ear canal is left open which leads to greater comfort. In essence, you have a tiny loudspeaker in your ear needing less volume, therefore, longer battery life.

Mini Receiver in the Ear (miniRITE)

This device is similar to the above RITE hearing aid but smaller in size. Extremely popular because of its size.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

This type has two components; the hearing aid and the earmold. The hearing aid is worn behind the ear and connects to the earmold that fits in your ear. Earmolds are carefully made from an impression of your ear and ear canal. When fitted it should make and maintain a proper fit.

This hearing aid is built into a custom-made shell made from an impression of the ear canal, similar to the above ITC. The difference between them is that this model fits a bit further into the ear canal therefore deeper toward the eardrum.
